Room-ez ("Room-ez," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Room-ez mobile application (the "App"), a service that helps people in the New York City area find roommates and rooms. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this Policy.

1. Information You Provide

• Account & contact: your phone number (used to sign in via a one-time SMS code).
• Profile: your name, age, gender and (optionally) sexual orientation, photos, bio, occupation, and (optionally) income range and student status.
• Housing preferences: budget, move-in date, preferred neighborhoods/boroughs, and lifestyle details (e.g., sleep schedule, cleanliness, smoking, pets, guests).
• Listings: if you list a room, the details, photos, and approximate location you provide.
• Messages: the content of messages you send to other users through the App.
• Reports & blocks: information you submit when you report or block another user.

2. Information Collected Automatically

• Location: with your permission, your device location is used to show roommates and rooms near you. You can disable this in your device settings.
• Device & usage: a push-notification token (if you allow notifications) and basic technical/usage information needed to operate and secure the App.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Create and manage your account and profile.
• Match you with potential roommates and rooms and power the discovery feed.
• Enable messaging, matches, and notifications.
• Process subscriptions and premium features.
• Keep the community safe (moderation, reports, blocks, fraud prevention).
• Comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. Parts of your profile (such as your name, photos, age, and preferences) are shown to other users so the service can work. We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf:

5. Your Choices & Rights

• Delete your account: In the App, go to Settings → Delete Account. Your profile is hidden immediately and permanently deleted after a 30-day recovery window, during which you can restore it by logging back in.
• Access & correction: You can edit your profile at any time in the App.
• Permissions: You can turn off location and notifications in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, deletion, or portability). Contact us to exercise them.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, your data is permanently removed after the 30-day recovery window, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

7. Children's Privacy

Room-ez is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and continuously improve our safeguards.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
